Beautiful birds view in HD

I just got my lightweight HD 808 #16 keychain and place it under my slow HK TRISTANIA @ TECHONE SPIRIT EPP foam plane. Flew FPV above our local area and too beautiful view of the surroundings.  The birds eye view on HD  looks beautiful.  Flying on FPV with HD recording make me appreciate more about the scenic beauty and surrounding where we live.    Life is now always need to be confined on ground level.  Its nice to be like a bird once.

FPV bush flight

Here is another advantage flying a slow lightweight EPP foam plane.  Its so slow and so light my HK TRISTANIA @ TECHONE SPIRIT EPP foam plane with FPV system on board can easily navigate and fly narrowly above bushes, between trees, fields and places where r/c helicopter could have been.  Which is why this is one of  my favorite daily fun FPV plane.  Everyday i had a cool jungle adventure when i'm not on my mountain bike.  Still it needs skilled pilots to move around in such thight and low flying condition to avoid stall, crashes and any posibble low flying mishap.  Fourtunately i have tonnes of flight hours and got me some great flying skills, so no problem for this flying ace veteran. lol.  *Touch wood*

Our RC offroad fun in Miri

Enjoy our buddies RC off-road bashing video.

R/C off-roading shootout

Our flying r/c buddies went off-roading at local nearby hills to shoot a movie for off-roading scene in HD.  So we went over to some local favorite hill where i used to ride my mountain bike over and was favorite r/c crawling venue.  Our models aren't much consistant in size and type so there lots of funny randomness in action.   We are not the type of R/C people who do serious r/c racing yet.  But for now we like to hangout out for r/c action and had a good laugh.  Well that waht most big boys do at weekends expecially those R/c pilots when they're back on ground.

FPV #2 - AXN Cloud FLY floater jet glider

After months of sucessful long distance FPV flight on 1.4m SKY SURFER @HK BIXLER its time to get low and get back where i should be with my flying buddies at our local field.  My dream was to fly tandem and parallel with my buddies like ace pilot with his wingmen chasing around the field like a combat dog fight scene.  I need to built an FPV plane that is smaller, agile, faster, capable of low pass flight and could catch up with my flying buddies and capture cool air to air dog chasing events.  My 1.4m SKY SURFER was too slow and sluggish for the task so i pull out my trusty 1.2m "AXN CLOUD FLY" floater jet/glide and turn it into my second FPV machine with similar FPV set up as my 1.4m wing.  Took me around 7 days to setup and two weeks of flight test before i could approve it as reliable FPV flyer for field chasing event.  2 weeks later it was all good, The 1.2m AXN CLOUD FLY pass the flying test and it was good to go for full fun fly operation at our local flying field.
The plane was suitable for short distance circuit flight best for friendly air to air dog fight and chasing.  Equipped with modded 270 degree HXT 900 servo pan i could view my friends plane and chase them around the field all round my wings just like watching my allied wingmen at the end of my wing tip.  Attached are some fantastic snapshots how the view would looked like from FPV point of view.  I'll also be posting the recorded FPV video scene soon about  dog figting and combat formation at our local field.  This should be an exciting FPV experience.   Once again proud to be R/C pilot.  Everyday is an adventure up in the air.

First jump into FPV RC flight

Its been quite a long trip into flying finally i decided to jump another level, higher into advance flying. Its is called FPV: "First Person View" flight. Previous flight before i was doing Line of Sight flying (L.O.S) flying outside the cockpit a view of your plane from the ground like any normal R/C enthusiast do in traditional flying method. My flight always been attaching a video recording cam and let it fly and do recording while i'm flying from LOS, replay back my recording back at home on my monitor always keeps me amazed, curious but full of excitement able to see the whole world below me as from birds eyes point of view. The world is different up there and its more beautiful and adventurous. Through my journey into R/C flying i've discovereda new way of flying, so called FPV flight (First Person View) flying where you flying an R/C from cockpit point of view, live view wireless video feed sent from the cockpit to the pilot via video googles or ground video monitor where you no longer stand on the ground watch from below and control your plane from direct line of sight. Its a real pilot experience but the cost to setup is very high, need paramount setup skills and piloting skills too. My flying skills already on par and definately met the requirement needed for FPV piloting. I understand some risk and limitation so i decided to take 3 months of intense research, experimentation, risk management, seek advice from fellow FPV pilot online, watch and read articles, study some real aviation law and air space regulation, insurance and few factor of safety both public and general interest. It was a huge gamble for an R/C pilot like me since i don't see any local pilot doing this FPV flight so it was wise for me to keep on doing more research and survey.

Being a mountain biker who love to explore the world in and out of the jungles throughout the entire land it is natural instinct for me to born and discovery the beauty of the world surrounding me and so this FPV flying fits the void i'm missing in my heart. After 3 months of research and study, i manage to gather my startup budget to kick start my first FPV ambition. Bought some hardwares required for FPV mainly wireless FPV goggles, video transmitter and receiver, ground station wirelessDVR flight recorder, FPV antennas, On Screen Display OSD module, GPS navigation module, wireless telemetry system, BEC, pan-tilt head tracker set, 520TVL cam and fail safe hardware as required for sucessfull and safe starter FPV kits. Then it will take 1 month to setup on my existing plane which i'm going to use 1.4m winged SKY SURFER @ HK BIXLER glider plane for my first FPV platform which is popular among FPV enthusiast. It glider better, longer flight time, could carry FPV loads, made of soft foam, dihedral winged and less stall problem in the air if in an event of engine or servo failure.

After weeks on LOS (Line Of Sight) flight test and my friend as a spotter to check out my flight and assuring my safety concern the next few days it was greem and good to go to start strapping my video goggles on my head and ready for my first maiden flight. First maiden FPV flight was a success without any problem. All system was a good and fully functional without a glitch. Each day the flight path and distance gradually increase from 100m to 1.5KM slowly to make sure everything was ok. Public safety also was my major concern so i only fly on big open field clearn from anything below me. Sometimes i flew comfortably above the sea which is safer that way. Radio range ok, video feed ok, range ok, ESC, motor and plane itself also ok and i've tested under various condition: heavy wind, cold, hot weather, moisty morning, sark dusky day, various landing condition, glitch test, throttle off test, engine fail test everything was proven good and assured. I was lucky i did all my homework well to do deep research and studies on it and everyhing was well paid off without incident.

My first week into FPV flight was a bit nervous, cautious but at the same time full with excitement. Had my first glimps of birds eye view on the world below me. A month later after intense FPV flight daily i go even further but within recomended flight altitude below 400 feet. It was beautiful, the river was blue, the sea shines silver golden sunset, green fields, the sky looks blue, the clouds wispy and i can hear the wind whisper through my hear as i glide gently along coastal beach and into the sea. I see birds flying, ships passing by and enjoy the view around the beaches. I can move my head around since the camera equipped with "head tracking" device which translate my head movement into the camera pan-tilt mechanism to expand my viewing freedom. Wow! this technology is so paramount in R/C flying, i can even monitor and track down my aeroplane performance and navigation via On Screen Display (OSD) which give me intrumental reading about my plane condition, speed, height, power/battery level, signal strength and etc just like a real plane would. I'm so proud all this setup i did it myself and learned how things works which makes it easy for me to troubleshoot if things happens. My ground station also equipped with necessary hardware and device so i could track my plane progress and status from ground level which is great for safety feature. My friends buddies was amazed too with my FPV skills, they used to become my L.O.S spotter on my first month of flight and now the can let me go and let me fly on my own since its been almost over two months and daily occasion of successfull FPV flights without incident.

So far i have been flying all around local places definately far away from urban infrastructure for my typical flight. It was all good. Enjoyed my flight over the forest, river, sea and beaches and keep my flight safe and follow the rules and airspace regulation set by law. Before and after flight i always check my plane make sure its fit to fly and make me feel like part of aviation stuff. Going FPV flight have made me more aware, discipline and ethical r/c pilot because i've seen myself how flying look like from cockpit view rather line of sight because both seems to have equal risks, pros and cons. Not only make me a mature flyer but also appreciate each flight worth taking serious about and be responsible r/c enthusiast.

Since i'm the first local FPV pilot to step up on my FPV journey i need to watch out for future incoming pilot who step into this same field of activity, ensure each one given advice, guides and education to young r/c pilot to avoid future complication and keep this R/C flying hobby a good name.

Yes! going HD!!

Lucky i was able to stumble this all popular gadget for DIY on-board video flight stuff on ebay. Its "SONY BLOGGIE HD" with swivel cam, LCD and HD quality recording. Not as light as i expected compare to the thumb stick spy cam that i always use but for a HD High Definition video purposes no argument i suppose...its cheaper alternative to GO PRO cam. Got it for half the original price and 2nd hand value, 4GBs, HDMI ready and looks good. After using it for a month on mountain bike with crashes, bangs, tosses, some flight casualties and etc it seems these SONY cam survive the torture only at the end held by duct tape after suffer a loose panel, cracked body and slidy USB bay. Other fact its also FPV ready too and comes with 360 lenses as optional adapter. Thumbs up. Hope it will keep running for 3 years....i hope. Check out my youtube soon for HD's!!!!

Going closer for FPV

My dream of flying higher into the sky almost closer than ever taking first step closer to reality, being up there watching the land from above from birds eye view is moments to be thrill about.  My first step started yesterday when i decide to push my flying skill higher than what people think was limit.  After weeks of flying a 450 size radio control heli i think it was about time to put all those flying fear aside and set my dream towards the sky higher beyond expectation.  Few days before i have multiple crashes and leardn few rational lesson about flying a heli.  Every crash and fixes is worth doing for the sake of learning and skills building.  A day before yesterday Sunday flight i've made some mods to my MINI DV video cam unit a clone of MD80 video recorder with its case removed and replace with lighter battery for ease to lift the device off the ground, it was strapped to the helicopter skid grip so this will be my first try to see hows my flying will be up in the sky.  In the morning i so some preparation and testing before initial flight on the afternoon.  In the afternoon i made my first high altitude flight at high speed mimic scale heli cruising  in one huge loop around safe flying zone but flying distance limited to my human visual range but i think its best i can do right  now.  I manage to flew 6x rounds, was a bit scary but its worth an adrenaline shots, thrills and excitement of flying.   You can view here some First Person View recorded video onboard my heli as i control from the ground here posted in youtube.  At the end of the day it was an awesome Sunday ever, put a big smile as i get back home, now pondering what's up next for this coming weekend.

Full surveilance going portable

Check this out what i won through ebay bids, got me 2 units of MINI DV MD80 (clone), a micro video cam recorder which i always wanted to have so small enough  i could stick on my helmet, on my bike or on my R/C models to records on going events happens around me on video print.  Its also another good investment and insurance to protect me on dangerous road when going cycling.  Who know someday if get knock by irrenponsible driver i could actually got the evidence recorded in my Mini DV.   Glad it came in very handy.  As for my review, this clone MD80 comes with 720x480 resolution running at 29-30fps, runtime of 2 hours (i guess) consume almost 2GB for 30 minutes recording, support max up to 16GB recording.  It need to use micro SD card to store the video which doesn't come in the box, so i bought separately a 4GB SANDISK type 4 for smoother recording but i should get type 6 with 16GB max.  USB connectable/rechargeable, voice activated, thumbs size,CMOS cam, include lots of brackets holder, optional rubber protection and cheap price was a good value camera just the right job.

Fruit Basket

Youtube:

Its been a while i haven't watch "Fruit Basket", i used to watch every night years ago when working late hours on my project with mini windows player anchor below the taskbar, the opening themes and lyric are very touching and meaningful, It just reminds me of my happy past and present time. Really arouse the nostalgic feeling.

The lyric:
-----------------
I was so happy, you were laughing
With a smile that melts everything away

Spring is still far away, inside the cold earth,
Waiting for the time to sprout

For instance, even if today is painful
And yesterday's wounds remain
I want to believe that I can free my heart and go on

I cannot be reborn
But I can change as I go on, so
Let's stay together always

Smile only at me and touch me with those fingers
This simple desire is everlasting

I want things to be simple
Let's finally get across this sea of mournful sorrow

For instance, even if today is painful
Someday it will become a warm memory
If you leave everything up to your heart

I understand the meaning our living here
It is to know the joy of having been born
Let's stay together always

For instance, even if today is painful
Someday it will become a warm memory
If you leave everything up to your heart

I understand the meaning our living here
It is to know the joy of having been born
Let's stay together always

Full Sunday-morning

Today we got a local nitro engine powered radio control buggy race start at 9am. After sunday church i went straight to the jumpy dirt race track with my buggy but unluckily the engine gave up on me not even reaching the pit stop. So i just help out taking photo's and video of the race to keep my time well spent and occupied. Also brought along a mountain biking friend and his daughter to watch the show on the 2nd trip. The sound of high reviving engine, racers shoutings, nitro smokes, clunking tools, stage av system and crowds beside the fences makes the scene like live parade of fun fair. The weather almost reached 28 degree hot by 10am. I'm very much sweaty under intense hot weather, even i could my PSP video record camera felt steamy hot like touching a boiling kettle.
