Going into mini off-road with DIY models.

After extensive research, budget calculation and weighting the fun factor consideration parts durability and parts availability i decided to pick up some cheap base chassis from local toy store an Auldey mini bigfoot and dig out RM800 worth of professional R/C parts from my Kyosho MINI-Z MR01 mini servo, KYOSHO MR02 electronic micro PCB board, SP8M4 5x stacks custom FET, ATOMIC-RACING gear, PN-RACING ball bearings, HL controller, HPI AM radio crystal and TAMIYA ULTRA DASH hot motor into the mini monster chassis. Took me full 8 hours to work on the conversion. The results is amazingly high torque off-roader suitable from rough off-roading and rock climbing. Its huge clearance below the chasis and long stock and flexible suspension enables this mini off-roader to soften and harsh impact come from various direction and the encase gearing system assure that the inner gear parts would last longer than having to replace often like my 1/28 KYOSHO MINI-Z. Plus comparison to my NRX-18 1/18 touring it does need much space and can crawl and speed almost any terrains including long grasses. The fun factor is also huge with longer run times due to light and high torque type gear which is friendly to the motor and also the cheap chassis could hold 4x AA 2700mah GP batteries. This is my worth DIY (Do It Yourself) professional hobby class mini monster R/C models. I love it. I guess i dun have to worry about broken parts anymore. Happy!

Evening twin duel

I never missed any interesting outdoor activity. Today lucky me got a similar models (NRX-18) from our local forumer join in for duel race on wide open area for both drift and sprint. In just 30 minutes we enjoy ourself chasing around the big car park dashing and drift around. Aki my forum buddy just installed new 370 motor which i trade and got me a used transmitter box for my project. We had great times. Both brushless system and brush was very competitive duel.

Its a hot adventure day.

Lucky me yesterday weather was dry enough and bike friendly because i don't have to wash my bike being wet and muddy plus heavy, just dust it off. But its was way too hot and some of us have to stay put under the shade. Wasn't much of a fast ride because the hot temperature keep us slow and stay more under the vegetation canopy. We start our ride behind Taman Tunku going toward the hill, breaching the forest and make full loop out which took us more hours than usual. Groups seperated by small increment at the end. So far it really took my fat off my skins.

Down goes my internet

Somewhere last Saturday at 7.00pm my local city including several parts of the state district hit by serious black out power outage. The whole city was pitch black for almost 1 hours. It recover again at 8.38pm. I turned my PC and internet connection. Failed, i couldn't connect. Several try but still can't, i phoned my friend and they too hit by same problem. Made a hotline complain and the ISP answered that the are now still recovering the connection ASAP. Yeah two days later, still no news about my house internet connection recovery. Like WTF!!! So i have to use my office internet.........damn it i still have long way to go to upload my EXAGE CD 20.0 XL-AM muscle car project to my website for public download. I'm late by days!...waaaaaaaaaaa..

The exotics ride

Here some picture of exotics mountain bikes that cost you a hole in your bank account, mine's is the silver colored full suspension bike. But its worth riding. It took picture before we start to ride into the forest last Sunday. These are the most mean machine for big boys toys.

Brushless ESC test result

Ok so today is my test day to tryout my new brushless system on my r/c 1/18 NRX-18. Powered only using normal 6V 100mah battery pack the car sprint like mad!!! The track size is flat taras big as football field which located behind my office. Just a minutes of run the pinion gear came loose so i re-tighten it back. On 2nd try it run without no problem. From one end to another end of the football size playgorund it took less than 3 second to reach the spot, The car almost tail spin thanks to 4WD transmission and it sounds like Jet engine due to its brushless motor property. It can easily drift!!! even without drift tyres. I was like standing there with my jaw wide open as i sucker for speed for the first time. Was way too fast then i've imagine. Less than 30 minutes later the battery runs out...which reminds me to get a LIPO battery next time. After that i took the car for inspection, ah yes few cracks on my body shell duel to extreme down force and almost worn out tyre plus some fine dirt inside. Wow!! that is isanely fast.

Return of the borneo jungle mens

Its another bright Sunday afternoon, yeah you know its my favorite time to jump on my mountain bike and head into the dense jungle for another green green rough outdoor adventure. Today we have a big group of local biker join our veteran rider for nasty uphill ride and deeper into the forest where we can reach much higher altitude up the hill and enjoy the scenic view. To sum up everything i include the photo below to show hows our sunday ride like last afternoon.

The big bang! SIDE WINDER BRUSHLESS

Yup, i trashed my old ESC on my radio control 1/18 scale. So, after morning church prayer i went to visit my favorite local hobby shop and Mr. Foo introduced me the most powerfull ESC (Electronic Speed Controller) system for 1/18 radio control scale plus with motor. ITS BRUSHLESS SYSTEM!!! and its RM$550!! The combo brushless ESC and motor set is made by wellknown R/C parts: CASTLE CREATION - SIDE WINDER MICRO (http://www.castlecreations.com) ..After thinking about long term effect so i decided to grab a box and Mr. Foo helped to setup the system for me to be tuned by hooking to USB cables and tuned through computer, That is awesome for a piece of micro technology but killer for normal people wallet.... yeah yeah its better than double upgrades in the future which cost more $$$, get now save later. I charged my battery, made custom battery power pack, a low CG 7.2V 2700mah pack. Hopefully tomorrow i can test on open space for sprint test. I hope it can blow me away with its awesomeness speed.
